Where do we stand with Camotics as a visualizer?

So, I am using Camotics to visualize a Masso postprocessor (derived from the Fanuc), and it seems to be working well. I thought I understood that FreeCad Path was going to use Camotics as a visualizer. Am I remembering correctly and if so status?

As I remember it, FreeCAD from 0.2x is built in such a way that it detects if Camotics is installed on the computer and gives the user the opportunity to simulate with Camotics, but how users should do to start a Camotics simulation I do not remember.
Sorry that this was just babble with little info.

I believe one needs a newer version of Camotics than the current download packages, which go only to version 1.2. If working with Linux it should be possible to compile the current master to get a usable advanced version that will work with FreeCAD. The author says it is difficult to compile for Windows.

That’s correct. We require 1.3.0. Unfortunately, camotics has it in their changelog but never released it formally.

Where can you download Camotics v1.3?

@Sliptonic
In the end, is Camotics going to replace the actual Freecad simulator? Or can we go on and make updates to the internal simulator? (see my post on discord)

Which discord channel/server?
When it comes to FreeCAD’s GUI for the simulator, I would have liked to see FreeCAD take the goodies from the GUI and functions in F360 or from a regular old VHS player. :bulb:

“FreeCAD project” server on Discord in the #path-cam channel.

Thanks for the information, however, cannot find the server with that channel.
Sorry for borrowing the thread a bit for this sidetrack.

Absolutely, you can make improvements to the internal. Highly welcome.

The two solutions can happily co-exist. If Camotics matures faster we can use it more.

I have created an issue for a newer build / release of camotics here: https://github.com/CauldronDevelopmentLLC/CAMotics/issues/404

Maybe if there is more attention to this issue a release is more likely in the near future.
