The latest Mac/ARM weekly build fails to launch for me. I get the error message:
“FreeCAD.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash."
The x86 build seems to work fine using Rosetta. Any body else seeing this?

I get a different error message in a dialog box that translates something like:
You can’t use this version of FreeCAD with this version of macOS.
MacOS 10.15.7 is installed on your computer. The application demands 13.6 or newer.
fwiw, my Mac is a M2 Mac Studio running 14.6.1
The problem persists with build 38506 - “FreeCAD.app is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.”
After a bit of research, it appears the app has two extended attributes: com.apple.provenance and com.apple.quarantine. Clearing the attributes from the command line allows the app to launch:
$ xattr -c /Applications/FreeCAD.app
The problem is still there with build 38553. Clearing the extended attributes allows it to be used.
Can someone please explain how to clear the extended attributes when I cannot even copy the image from the disk image? My M2 Macbook Air attempts to verify the app then bombs out with the message that the file is damaged

Indeed, executing the
xattr -c /Applications/FreeCAD.app
or more precisely in my case:
xattr -c ‘/Applications/FreeCAD 2.app’
command line in Terminal fixed the issue for me! (build 38555, macOS14.6.1, Mac Mini M2pro)
Thank you for the tip.
Wanted to confirm that this is still broken on 38622, xttr -c still fixes it.
38768 also has the same problem.
The problem persists for me
FreeCAD-0.21.2-macOS-intel-x86_64 will not launch, therefore I cannot see what build it is
“FreeCAD.app is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.”
I’m running MacOS 10.13.6 Catalina on a MacBook Pro from early 2015 (Intel)
A huge thank you to the guys who are coding this stuff, I am half a century too old for this shit, the mere mention of Terminal makes me cringe.
Thank you also a bunch to the guys who are trying to help others here in the forum
Cheers
Please try with 1.1.0 dev version available as weekly builds: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-Bundle/releases/tag/weekly-builds
Yesterday’s built needed the use of the terminal as well. But RC2 seems to be properly signed and ran out of the box.
Thank you for the reply, but 1. What does RC2 mean? and all the downloads seems to two days old
Cheers
Thank you for your reply, but I can not find 1.1.0 anywhere on said page?

Release Candidate 2: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/releases/tag/1.0rc2
It’s a test version before releasing 1.0 stable.

The number is not mentioned there because it’s just a weekly build of the current 1.1.0 dev branch but you will see it when you start the software.

The current terminology can be a bit confusing.
The “official” RC versions can be found at https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/releases
These are more or less “static”. Once they are created they are not changed. If a significant change is needed to correct a bug then a new version will be created. Eventually the final RC version will become the official version 1.x release. (Not yet clear if “x” will be 0 or something higher.)
The daily updates still go on in the main repository on github. Twice a week (more or less) these are compiled and offered on the “weekly” builds page https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-Bundle/releases/tag/weekly-builds
If you want something that is static then look at the RC versions. If you want the very latest bug fixes and feature updates then look at the weekly builds page.

Thank you both, downloading now.
Confusing indeed, when you’re not familiar with the lingo
It launches just fine, so now i can finally start relearning FreeCAD
Cheers

1.0 for the upcoming big release after RCs (one more is planned). Then 1.0.1 will be the next bug-fix release (like 0.21.2 is the second one for 0.21) and 1.1.0 will be the next major stable release (hence the weekly builds already showing this number). Of course, assuming the plans don’t change.

That was the reason for my comment.
