Hello,
I’ve attempted to search the forum and the rest of the net for the last week to try and solve my problem. And tried to change all the variables I know to find, so my apologies if this has been asked previously. I’ve attached file and version information at bottom of post.
I’m using the Path Workbench and specifically the 3D Surface tool. I would like to manipulate where the cutter drops vertically into the stock to begin the cut.
I’m trying to create an operation to cut the top-side of the shape profile only (Profile Edges: Only) for the first pass using 4mm step-downs (Layer Mode: Mutli-pass)
I’ve attempted enabling the “Use Start Point” and can successfully move the start point to any area I enter, however 3D Surface only seems to plunge into the stock at the same x,y point each time. This point that is “chosen” by the 3D surface tool is not a preferred location for my process. I’ve tried changing the model to have different depths at each end of the model and it seems to always choose the same point.
Many thanks to any tips, tricks, or guidance to more reading so I can figure this one out. I’ve been able to get pretty far using FreeCAD over the years and this is the first time I’ve not been able to find a solution to a problem I’m having somewhere out there.
