At this point, it works for me. Throw it on the calendar?
The proposed time works for me.
Ok then it’s set up! Tuesday may 23rd (tomorrow), at 16h00 UTC at https://meet.jit.si/freecad-gsoc . The FreeCAD calendar is updated. See you there!
Here’s my project log: https://devtalk.freecad.org/t/implementing-a-materials-database/6309/1
I couldn’t come in time for the bonding period due to a lot of stuff, but I’ll still like to go in the same spirit.
Coding has officially begun!
We had a very cool meeting last week with all students and mentors, and I think everybody is well on board and motivated. I think this will be a GSoC to be remembered!
Since yesterday, students have officially entered coding time. This will last up to July 10th, where there will be a first evaluation. Good luck to everybody! Be sure to post often on your individual threads, and don’t hesitate to ask for feedback and ideas whenever you feel the need for it!
Hi all!
We are now about half-way through our first coding period. Some of you have already produced an impressive amount of work, some others have shown less results so far. There is nothing wrong here, some projects yield immediate output, others require more thinking and planning, and we are still early on schedule. However, I think this is a good opportunity to make a status report, and each of you explain a bit where you are on your schedule, what you have done during the last 3 weeks, what is giving you difficulties, if your views over your project have changed, etc.
gauriimaheshwarii, tanahy, a.paritosh, hlorus, could you each post a brief report on your respective thread? It does not need to be big, just a few lines, to keep us updated!
Thanks!
Sure thing! Sadly these first weeks I have been either ill or in conferences so this week is my very first “proper” work week in June. I will update my project thread as soon as I have something relevant to say, but sadly my output at the moment is negligible.
I hope to come up with some results in the following days, sorry for the vagueness of my reply but I hope to turn this around very soon.

Here is my report.

Thanks tanahy and a.paritosh ! I already saw github activity of gauri and hlorus too.
What about another video meeting in a week or two, before the July 10th deadline? So we can all check on progresses and where everybody is before the deadline, and if needed help those who need it to complete that first coding stretch. What about July 5th, about the same time as last time? 16h00 UTC? Would that suit you all?
Sounds great to me! I’ll be there.

yorik it works for me.
Ok meeting is set then!
important note: it is possible to extend the duration of your GSoC project from the normal 12 weeks to 14, 16, 18, 20 or 22 weeks. If you wish so, we must do this before the july 10th midterm deadline, as it affects the deadline itself.
If you wish to extend your project duration, please talk to me or your mentor as soon as possible!
Meeting will be in about 45min on https://meet.jit.si/freecad-gsoc
I’d like to do a FreeCAD News blog post about the current status of these projects – a.paritosh, tanahy, gauriimaheshwarii, and hlorus, could you each share a few sentences about what you’ve done so far? I’d also love to include an image for each project, so if you have something visual that can show what you’re doing, or that represents your work, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
Hi all,
Today up to 18:00 UTC is the last moment to do anything you wish that have for the mid-term, for gauriimaheshwarii, tanahy and a.paritosh. If you have any problem, question, or anything please talk to your mentor or to me!
hlorus has asked for an extension of his project’s timeline to 18 weeks, his midterm eval will then be by end of july.
kkremitzki, sliptonic, chennes starting from today 18:00 UTC, we have up to the end of the week to fill the midterm google form. In principle you 3 are responsible for filling it for each of your primary student, but I’ll check to make sure everything is OK. Reach to me in case of problem!

I’ve posted an update, see: Making sure you're not a bot!
Unfortunately there aren’t too much visuals yet…
Hi all!
A small update for who is following us here:
-
The FreeCAD library project by a.paritosh is finished. Amulya has delivered his finished work, which is now being reviewed by the FreeCAD mentors. The project resides at https://github.com/AmulyaParitosh/Component-Management-System
-
The 3 other projects have requested an extended delay, so they keep working on their project. tanahy will finish his project early october, hlorus and gauriimaheshwarii mid-october.

I’m really sorry about the huge delay in my reply chennes, but I really wanted to have something tangible and not too buggy before showing it. It’s still full of issues, but at least the interface looks somehow acceptable at this point. Please take a look at my latest update in the On Machine Inspection thread here.
