Recently I we disccoused in “My take on the FreeCAD GUI” I learned that FreeCAD has a Design Guide. Based on this I created my own as a proposal. While working on it I came accross that some part of it is special for PartDesign.
So my question. Does PartDesign has a DesignGuidline?
Do you see room for a discussion, if I write down my thinking and ideas into a Design Guidline - based on my knowledge from using closed source CAD systems the last 15 Years?
We’re certainly open to ideas but just don’t expect us to fall at your feet and treat your words as gospel (we’ve had so called designers coming “to help” with such expectations before). There’s certain things worth mimicking from proprietary software but equally many things we should avoid like the plague. Besides that, any proposal should be realistic.
FreeCAD overall is in very active development and a design guide makes sense.
Part Design continues to get improvements and various tweaks, but the overall design is basically finished. It is not clear how a PD design guide would be of much value.
adrianinsaval I have no Problem with that. I like the discussion around that.
From your post I assume there are any No-Gos for PartDesign? I for my self would base some parts of the Guideline on a solved TNP Problem and some ideas I had written down here.
I had completely misunderstood the intent of this topic. I had the impression that this is about how to design PartDesign models. I mention it, because you may want to clarify for others.
