Animated GIF images - resolution requirements

Hi,

the release notes wiki pages typically contain animated GIF images. I’ve noticed that some of them have to be clicked to start the animation. They have the following description: Note: Due to technical limitations, thumbnails of high resolution GIF images such as this one will not be animated. But what exactly is meant by high resolution here ? I use ScreenToGif software to capture GIF images and I can set the resolution but I don’t know what the maximum value for automatic animation is. Any hints ?

Hi

try different length height (not resolution ppp) and test it

Animated GIFs where (width × height × number of frames) exceeds this limit will be thumbnailed to a single, static frame, instead of getting an animated thumbnail.
